The largest provider of business graduates to Silicon Valley, the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business provides a talent pool, idea leadership and business community engagement through our institutes and centers of excellence that support the region's growth in the global marketplace.
The Lurie College of Education is committed to preparing educators, including teachers, administrators, counselors and service providers, who will ensure equity and excellence for all students in a culturally diverse, technologically complex, global community.
Consistently ranked among nationally renowned programs, the Davidson College of Engineering is the leading provider of engineering talent to Silicon Valley. Strategic priorities include creating innovative and experiential learning environments and strengthening community partnerships. Notable alumni: Intel CEO Brian Krzanich, former CEO of Rockwell International Don Beall and Seagate cofounder Finis Conner.
The College of Health and Human Sciences is home to applied and professional disciplines serving dynamic societal needs and dedicated to promoting a healthy, ethical and enlightened global community through innovative application of knowledge and scholarship. With four schools and seven departments, CHaHS is home to SJSU's nursing, military science and human rights programs.
An active contributor to the Silicon Valley arts community, the College of Humanities and the Arts provides a high-quality liberal arts education focused on creativity, innovation and problem solving. The college prepares students to be compassionate, informed citizens of the world. The college manages the university-partnership with the Hammer Theatre Center in downtown San Jose. Notable alumni include author Amy Tan and playwright and activist Luis Valdez.
Scientists are explorers and adventurers. The College of Science prepares students for teaching, research or technical careers in biological sciences, chemistry, computer science, geology, mathematics, meteorology and climate science, and physics and astronomy. Also part of the college is Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, a world-class marine sciences teaching and research center located an hour from campus in Monterey Bay. SJSU administers MLML, a consortium of seven campuses.
Programs in the College of Social Sciences prepare students for work and life in Silicon Valley and a rapidly changing world. Faculty members prepare students for careers in counseling, ergonomics, environmental impact assessment and restoration, computerized mapping, public administration, economic analysis, internet communication, and countless other positions in business, government, teaching and human services.
PGE serves adult professionals interested in enhancing their careers with graduate degrees and certificates, local students wishing to add credit in their march toward graduation, non-credit courses for professional development and corporate training, and access for remote students seeking online course alternatives. The Timpany Center’s mission is to provide, through multi-agency involvement and San José State University student service learning, inclusive aquatic and land-based activities that target the promotion of physical health and wellness in individuals with disabilities, obesity, and/or advanced age from the greater Santa Clara County community.
The Hammer Theatre Center is a unique performing arts facility that serves as a nexus between the university and the community, San Jose and the Bay Area, and local and global talent. It produces and presents innovative programming that reflects Silicon Valley’s culture of creativity, diversity, and technology. Audiences are invited to experience the beauty, spontaneity and human connection made possible through live performances.
A member of the Mountain West Conference, Spartan Athletics has both Division I men's and women's teams. Help student-athletes succeed in the classroom and in competition.
