Survey of Sociology Faculty Members

In addition to collecting data on the GE Learning Objectives as required by the University, the Department will collect faculty survey data. Both sets of data will be used to to improve the SOCI 100W Writing Workshop and writing instruction within our department.

To accomplish this goal, the Department has created a Qualtrics survey to administer to faculty to assess the effectiveness, goals, and improvements to be made to the Sociology writing curriculum. The survey will be administered at the end of the Spring 2015 semester.

The questions in the survey ask faculty to tell us more about their writing expectations for students, the types of writing issues they encounter in student work, the types of writing assignments and instruction that they do in their courses, and the types of writing support that they could use in their classrooms. We also ask about the types of writing skills faculty feel are essential for Sociology students to have when they graduate.

The findings from the data will be used to tailor SOCI 100W to meet the identified needs of the students and faculty in the Department.
