Salary Savings

While it is not recommended as a regular practice, it is recognized that there may be a reason to hold excess salary budget dollars in Salary & Wages (S&W) without the attachment to a specific position. This could be helpful when salary savings have been recently generated and it is known that additional salary dollars will be needed in the near future (within same fiscal year) for a reorganization, reclassifications, etc.

Rather than moving the excess salaries into Operating Expenses and Equipment (OE&E) just to move it back again in a few months, the Salary Savings could be held in the same salary account code.

You can also transfer anticipated Salary Savings (budget) to cover any unanticipated Operating Expenses & Equipments (OE&E) expenditures.
