Common Finance System
Common Finance System (CFS) - Effective January 4, 2011
The Common Finance System consolidation project will combine all 23 CSU campuses Financial systems into a single CSU system wide Financial system and is designed to be a cost effective, efficient Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that will reduce overall operation costs, hardware as well as software. CFS will also reduce upgrade and maintenance costs over the lifecycle of the Oracle PeopleSoft product. The CFS Financial System was implemented on January 4, 2011. CFS incorporates a series of complex account accounting modules which facilitates the tracking of governmental funds under the supervision of the State Controller's Office and the Chancellor's Office in accordance with GAAP and GASB principles.

- Common Financial System (CFS) Implementation Update - Go Live 1/4/2011
Effective today, Common Finance System (CFS) is live.
Key Points:
- CFS replaces PS Finance. End users will login to CSU Portal CFS with an SJSUOne Account. For instructions on how to login, see How to Login to CFS. To activate your SJSUOne Account, visit the University Technology Services website.
- As of today, CFS data includes only carry forward balances from CMS. Over the next week, central finance will be populating CFS with encumbrance balances for open purchase orders. Users can expect to see open purchase orders and begin receiving items on January 10, 2011.
- PS Finance (Legacy) is accessible and restricted to view only.
- Procurement transactional data (Requisition, Purchase Orders, and Receipts) prior to December 28, 2010 will reside in PS Finance (Legacy). Other transactional data such as Expense Journals, Vouchers, and Student Financial prior to January 1, 2011 will reside in PS Finance (Legacy).
- Cognos continues to be the campus' primary financial reporting system. More information pertaining to this system will be sent to the campus as it becomes available.
FTS changes:
- Requisition - To create a split distribution (charge multiple chartfields) for a requisition line item, you will need to create two line items for the same product or service. Each line will reference one chartfield string and how much is to be charged.
- Direct Payment Voucher, Reimbursements and Travel Reimbursement - The CFS Voucher ID will appear when the transaction is in "distributed" status. This ID is a searchable field.
- Budget Journal, Expense Journal, Hospitality Payment, and Interdepartmental Transfers - The CFS Journal ID will appear when the transaction is in "distributed" status. This ID is a searchable field.
