International Travel

Foreign Travel Insurance is required for all Faculty and staff traveling outside the United States on University business. Each traveler isrequired to complete a Request for Approval of Travel form and submit it to the Provost's Office. The Provost's Office will forward a copy to Risk & Compliance to arrange the insurance.

The Foreign Travel Insurance program provides accident & sickness (including medical coverage), general liability, excess auto liability, foreign workers’ compensation, and executive assistance (including legal assistance, embassy/consular contacts and assistance in replacing lost documents). Students may participate in the program but are not required to do so.

The following Insurance premiums will be recharged for each traveler to the appropriate department. Please note these premiums are for FY 11/12 and will be subject to change thereafter:

Coverage does not extend to countries which are subject to trade or economic sanctions or regulations by the United States of America or “war risk” countries.  If the traveler wishes to visit a “war risk” or embargo country, approval in advance must be requested from the underwriter.

Countries that are considered to be “high hazard” by our underwriter have higher premiums, and the traveler must provide contact information to the underswriter (a phone number, the name and phone number of the place(s) where the traveler will be staying, and information on transportation within the country).  High hazard countries change so contact Risk & Compliance for more information.

The rates for high hazardous countries are as follows:
