Celebrations
Individual departments, supportive programs, or campus affinity groups may hold celebrations
outside the college Commencement ceremonies schedule. These events offer students
and loved ones another opportunity to celebrate the academic, cultural and personal
experiences that shaped their SJSU journey, and the communities that helped them reach
this milestone. These events do not confer degrees and are separate from the official
Commencement ceremonies. Academic regalia is not typically worn, but graduates may
be bestowed with unique stoles, sashes, pins or other accessories they may bring to
Commencement.
