SJSU Summer Grant Program

Welcome, Spartan!

SJSU is offering a unique opportunity this summer for frosh and sophomores to catch up, stay with their entering class, and earn additional units toward their degree.

We are offering Spartan Summer Grants up $1000 for eligible students who choose to make progress to graduation by completing coursework in summer 2023.

Spartan Summer Grant Eligibility Criteria:
  • Must be a California resident enrolled in undergraduate coursework
  • Must be enrolled in at least one summer class by May 5, 2023
  • Must have a current FAFSA or CA Dream Act application on file
  • Must have established eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant Program or be a member of an Under-Represented Minority (URM)
  • Must be in good academic standing with the University and meet satisfactory academic standards for financial aid
Additional information
  • Applications are not required. Eligible recipients are selected by the use of the program criteria by a campus committee.
  • Funding is limited, and not all students will qualify for awarding.

We encourage students to complete 30 units per year to stay on track to graduate earlier (and reduce the overall cost of their degree). If you are looking for ways to stay on pace for completing 30 units toward your degree this year, registering for summer 2023 courses is a great way to meet that goal.

For specific information about eligibility for Spartan Summer Grants, please contact Carolyn Guel, Associate Director for Financial Aid & Scholarships at carolyn.guel@sjsu.edu
