The Department of Kinesiology proudly offers Spartan Youth Summer Camp
our 2nd Spartan Youth Summer Camp during Summer 2019 to create sports and exercise experience for children. We invite you to explore our full day program to make summer healthy, exciting, and fun for your child.

Registration remain available throughout the duration of the summer camps or until full.

The summer program is organized and developed under the leadership of Program Director, Dr. Areum Jensen.

Camp Description

Dr. Areum Jensen, Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, hosts the Spartan Youth Summer Camp program. Children ages 7-12 are grouped by age and offered a variety of sports, exercise and fun physical activities. The program aims to enhance health and wellness, self-esteem, confidence, and team work through various sports and fun physical activities.   


Activities

*An After-hour Program will be offered that will involve a Journalism project (additional $100/week per child). More info coming soon.


Reminders

  • Please bring a water bottle labeled with your child name. Because your child will play and exercise all day, it is important to be well hydrated all times.
  • We will distribute our camp T-shirts on Monday when you drop off your child. Prepare your child to wear camp t-shirt throughout the week.
  • Your child is required to wear exercise clothes and shoes (e.g., running shoes, tennis shoes, sneakers are preferred)
  • Prepare swimsuit/trunk, goggles, swim cap, swim shoes (not necessary), towel, soap, etc.
  • Your child can have a cell phone in his/her bag. No cell phones are allowed during camp hours. Will only be used for emergency.
  • Lunch is supervised by our staff between 12:10pm. and 1:00pm. Lunch will not be provided. You will pack a lunch and snacks for your child.
  • There is a construction site in front of Spartan Complex Building (SPX) where our registration/drop off site is. Please be careful to get into the building. We will have our table with banners at the lobby.

The cost is $250 per child.

Regarding qualifying expenses for the child and dependent care credit, summer day camp fees qualify as expenses for care if the camp was selected to provide care while the parent(s) were at work.  The camp can specialize in the particular activity such as computers, sports, etc.

Cost: $250 per week, per child, and additional $100 per week for after hour program. 

Camp Enrollment Maximum: Total of 48 children (24 children for age 7-9 group and 24 children for age 10-12 group)

REFUND: There will be a 10% refund fee per transaction.  
Please notify one week advance for any cancellation.

Additional Information

Drop off/Pick up Location

The drop off/pick up location is Spartan Complex Building (SPX) 107. Please use parking in 20 minute parking site at 7th street parking garage (See campus map) on S. 7th street. There is also limited meter street parking on S. 4th Street. 

Drop off/Pick up Time

Drop off – Please drop off your child between 8:30am to 9:00am at drop off location.

Pick up – Please pick-up your child between 2:45pm to 3:00pm at SPX lobby.

After-Hour Pick-Up: 4:45pm - 5:00pm at SPX lobby.

Lunch

Please pack a lunch and snacks for your child. Please refrain from packing nuts for your child due to severe nut allergies of other children. We do not recommend your child to purchase lunch on campus as we do not want your child separated from the group.
