In honor of the Legacy of Poetry here at San José State University, please join us for a night of new and recent poetry read by poets from multiple generations and nations of origin. Between the four poets, they have collectively published 24 books of poetry as well as a number of other genres of writing.

Sally Ashton

Her 5th book of poems is now out: Listening to Mars (Cornerstone Press 2024).  She is an emerita of SJSU, editor of the DMQ Review and the former poet laureate of Santa Clara County.

Marcelo Hernandez Castillo

Co-founder of the Undocupoets Campaign, he is the Lurie Visiting Author at SJSU this semester and also the author of three books: Cenzóntle, (2018), Dulce (2018), and the memoir, Children of the Land (2020).

Shirley Geok-Lin Lim

Her 12th book of poems just came out, Dawns Tomorrow (2024).  Dr. Lim is also a memoirist, critic, novelist, two-time American Book Award winner, and an emerita Professor at UC Santa Barbara.

Anne Walker

Her 6th book of poems, is just out: Ink and Ink and Flesh and Length (The Black Spring Press Group, Spring 2024).  It was shortlisted for the Sexton prize. She is currently teaching at SJSU.
