What You’ll Learn

The Master of Science in Quantum Technology’s 30-credit curriculum offers advanced training in physics, electrical engineering and applied research to prepare you for leadership in the quantum science and technology field.

Through traditional coursework and quantum software and hardware laboratory experiences, you’ll:
  • Apply core principles of quantum mechanics, quantum information theory and quantum algorithms
  • Develop and execute quantum algorithms using specialized software and hardware frameworks
  • Design and work with precision measurement systems, optical platforms and low-temperature electronics for quantum sensing and hardware applications
  • Implement domain-specific analytical and numerical methods to simulate complex quantum systems, interpret data, and model properties of quantum hardware

Before you apply, confirm that you meet both university admission and program eligibility requirements. In addition to SJSU’s graduate admission standards, the MS in Quantum Technology requires an undergraduate degree in the physical sciences, engineering or another STEM discipline to ensure a solid academic foundation.

Applying to the MS in Quantum Technology

Apply via Cal State Apply and submit all official documents to Graduate Admissions by the Quantum Technology deadline. Your application must include the following documents, emailed to quantum@sjsu.edu:

  • A resume or curriculum vitae
  • A 1-2 page statement of purpose that addresses (1) how your previous coursework, research, or employment prepares you for our program; and (2) how our program fits into your career interests and goals
  • One signed letter of recommendation from an academic or employment referencea resume, a 1–2 page statement of purpose (detailing your background and goals) and one signed letter of recommendation.
