This section contains the community standards for students—the various polices currently in effect at San José State University and CSU system wide.
Student Conduct Code [pdf] (Title 5, California Code of Regulations): Stipulates the grounds upon which student discipline can be based. Students are charged with violating the Student Conduct Code.
CSU Executive Order 1098: Governs the procedures that San José State University follows in student discipline cases. CSU Executive Order 1098 informs Students of their rights and responsibilities when they are alleged to have violated the Student Conduct Code and describes the Investigation, Conference, and Hearing process.
Interim CSU Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation: Governs the procedures that San José State University follows when affiliates make a complaint regarding Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation, Sexual Misconduct, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking. The policy informs affiliates of their rights and responsibilities when they make a complaint and describes the process.
Academic Integrity Policy [pdf] (Academic Senate F15-7): Governs the procedures that San José State University follows in cases of academic dishonesty. The Academic Integrity Policy informs Students of their rights and responsibilities when they are alleged to have cheated or plagiarized and describes the process the faculty take when the suspect a violation and the Academic and Administrative Sanctions that may be imposed.
Policy Regarding COVID-19 [pdf] (Presidential Directive 2021-02):Stipulates the campus policies in regards to COVID-19 safety measures and potential outcomes for failing to comply.
Policy Regarding Attorneys [pdf] (Presidential Directive 2019-02): Pursuant to Presidential Directive 2019-02, San José State University excludes attorneys from student discipline proceedings except in limited circumstances as described in CSU Executive Order 1098.
UHS License Agreement 2021-2022 [pdf]: Governs the procedure that University Housing Services follows for all residents. The UHS License Agreement identifies the terms and conditions of the license, stipulates the grounds upon which discipline can be based, describes the student conduct process, and informs residents of their rights and responsibilities when they are alleged to have violated the policies and regulations.
Student Organization Code of Conduct [pdf] (Presidential Directive 2007-04): Stipulates the grounds upon which student organization discipline can be based. Student organizations are charged with violating the Student Organization Code of Conduct.
