Types of San Jose State University E-Mail Accounts
The first step is to determine which type of university e-mail account you have. The quick way to find out is to look at your e-mail address. The best clue to determining this is what immediately follows the "@" sign in your e-mail address.
The types of university wide e-mail accounts are:
- Google SJSU Gmail, ends in @sjsu.edu
- Student e-mail, ends in @students.sjsu.edu
University E-Mail Google Gmail
- Call us at (408) 924-2377 during our normal business hours.
- Or, go to our ticket portal and submit an incident ticket into our ticketing system.
- Or, visit us in Clark Hall room 102 during our normal business hours.
The Student E-Mail System
San Jose State University, through partnership with Microsoft Live Edu, provides a feature-rich, intuitive electronic mail environment to the Student community. Only students may use this e-mail system. Popular features include web and POP3 client access, online file sharing and storage, blogging, Storage, and account pickup and management through SJSU's SJSUOne application.
Every active SJSU Student has an SJSUOne account, the Information Technology Services (ITS) Systems Group has also generated a SJSU Student E-Mail address for each active student.

Future Student Wishing to Have an SJSU E-mail Account Now
SJSU does not, at this time, provide e-mail addresses to students prior to enrollment. It is the official policy and practice for SJSU to use the preferred e-mail address (which may be selected or modified in MySJSU) when communicating to all applicants and students via e-mail. By default, the preferred e-mail for incoming applicants is the self-reported e-mail provided on their CSU Mentor application. In addition, important communication is often sent to applicants and students via MySJSU. Please make sure to check your MySJSU account frequently for new messages.

Other university e-mail accounts
Some organizational units (departments) at the university provided their own e-mail services at one time. These accounts were replaced at SJSU with SJSU Google Gmail account accounts and are no longer available. If you believe you still have an issue involving a SJSU organizational unit's former e-mail account, please contact your desktop support team for assistance.
