Media Services maintains a collection of over 9000 videos and films, both circulating and non-circulating, accessible through the SJSU Online Catalog. To locate videos or films using the Library Catalog follow these directions:

  1. Choose to search "Keyword" of the Video
  2. Limit Selection to "IRC"
  3. Choose "Video" to limit search strictly to videos
  4. Click on "go" to perform your search

We have preset the "Keyword" and "Video" choices at the bottom of this page to help facilitate your initial search. Enter your search parameters and click go.

After you perform a search, select extended display to see which videos are available from the " IRC" Video Services collection. Click on the titles of the media you are interested in and make note of the call number.


CALL NUMBERS FOR INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES CENTER MATERIALS BEGIN WITH THE LETTERS:
X = Videotapes that may be checked out
T = Videotapes that are available on the campus closed circuit TV
F = 16mm Films that may be viewed at the IRC

Videotapes with a " T" call number prefix are available for viewing through our video distribution system at the Instructional Resource Center. They are not available for checkout. You can reserve these tapes to be viewed in your class based on your playback reservation with Video Services.

Videotapes with an " X" call number prefix are located in the Media Services checkout collection on the first floor of the Instructional Resource Center. These tapes may be checked out for preview - or - for use with your own VCR. If you prefer that your class view these tapes through the Video Services Distribution System, based on your reservation, Video Services will secure the videotape for that use.

Library materials with an " F" call number prefix are films, not videotapes. Please call 924-2888 to arrange projection service, or stop by the Media Services counter on the first floor of the Instructional Resource Center.

All other tapes belong to various special collections or the public library. If you wish to use these resources then you must check them out and return them to these collections.

 

Tapes that have Closed-Captioning for hearing impaired may be decoded upon request.

San Jose State University faculty and students with current ID may check out up to three circulating videos for a two-day period. In order to check out materials, patrons must be listed in the University Library's database and are required to present an SJSU ID or San Jose Library Card.

Facilities for viewing the non-circulating collection are available at Media Services, IRC 112. Both circulating and non-circulating videotapes may be scheduled for class time viewing through Video Services at extension 4-2867.
