
Dr. Themis D. Pantos is a Professor of Finance and holds the Bridge Bank Chair of Banking and Financial Services at the College of Business at San Jose State University. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, Canada; M.A. in Economics from York University, Downsview, Canada, and B.B.A. from the University of Macedonia, formerly known as the Graduate Industrial School of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece, respectively. Dr. Pantos has published extensively in various peer-reviewed Finance and Economics journals. His current research and teaching interests are in the areas of Capital Markets and Institutions, International Finance, and Derivative Securities.
Professor Pantos was the keynote speaker at the 3rd International Conference on Accounting and Finance organized by the University of Macedonia in Skiathos Island, Greece, August 25th-27th, 2010. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Review of Accounting and Finance Journal. He is the holder of the College of Business Research Award (2007) and the winner of the Lucas Research Fellowship for four consecutive academic years (2009, 2008, 2007, 2006). Professor Pantos has also won several Academic California State University Research Awards. Dr. Pantos is the holder of the Teacher’s Master Award (2010), the winner of the Outstanding Faculty Award (2007) from the Disability Resource Center, and the holder of the prestigious Outstanding Undergraduate Professor Teaching Award (2004), at San Jose State University. Dr. Pantos was nominated for the President’s Teaching/Scholar Award in 2006. He has also won the “MBA Faculty Choice Award” in 2000 at Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey. Professor Pantos’ biography is included in the “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” annual award publications for the years 2005 and 1998 respectively.
