Filipino American History Month
Filipino American History Month is an annual month-long celebration of Filipinos in
the United States. Nationally, this month is celebrated in October to commemorate
the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States, which occured
in October 1587 when Filipinos arrived on the shores of Morro Bay, California. Throughout
the month, CAPISE and Mosaic Cross Cultural Center and other campus and community
partners will host programs and events highlighting and uplifting the stories, histories,
and experiences of Filipino Americans. Our theme for 2026 is "Kuwento Natin: Our Stories".
Our 2026 calendar graphic is designed by Anh Mai, MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center Graphic
Designer and visually inspired by traditional sari-sari stores in the Philippines.
