Community Relations

Community and Government Relations actively works with the local community to become a better neighbor and partner to create a community where we can all thrive. Community relations actively engages with:

  • Neighborhood relations,
  • Downtown community activation,
  • Community-based organizations (e.g., nonprofit organizations), and;
  • Business/trade associations.

The goal of these partnerships is to be a good neighbor and to build strategic partnerships that benefit the community and SJSU. These relationships can take on numerous forms, such as collaborative economic and community development projects. Some example partnerships are:

  • Building a stronger town-gown relationship with the downtown community with the San José Downtown Association;
  • Partnering with nonprofit organizations like Community Health Partnership and The Health Trust to better measure health equity in Santa Clara County; and,
  • Engaging in beautification projects in the surrounding neighborhoods.
