Hello! My name is Rinkle Anuwadia (she/her) and I am an Event Coordinator Intern for the Gender Equity Center at San Jose State University. I am a Grad student studying for a Masters in Engineering Management. I am a Cynophilist and an outgoing person. I am passionate about contributing to society and connecting with people from different backgrounds. In my free time I enjoy Bollywood music, cooking, painting, organizing, and making DIY projects.

Hello Im Katherine (she/her) and I am an event coordinator for the Gender Equity Center. I am a Graphic Design student here at SJSU. I enjoy making art, watching anime and good shows, and hanging out with loved ones. I hope to be able to learn more about myself and help others here at San Jose and at the GenEc Center.

Nico Peck, MFA

Nico Peck is a writer and artist. They have an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College and teach as an adjunct in the Bay Area. You can find their work in the anthology Troubling the Line, online journals, such as Boog Portable Reader, Open House, and Eleven Eleven, and their book The Pyrrhiad, which is available from Dirty Swan Projects. Nico's visual art has shown at Krowswork Gallery in Oakland, screened in the Frameline Film Festival, and toured with the Herstory Inventory Project.

Jenny’s passion for public health education started at San Jose State University where she completed her BS in Public Health. She was involved in campus life as an active member of Alpha Phi Omega, a community service based organization, volunteered and led teams for Peer Health Education (PHE), and interned for the Gender Equity Center in her senior year. During her time as a student and a health educator for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte she organized and collaborated on programming to address: violence prevention, risk reduction, body image, sexuality, gender, and identity. As a health educator for Planned Parenthood she taught comprehensive sex education in a variety of settings in English and Vietnamese, to: middle schools, high schools, foster youth, community centers, homeless shelters, Juvenile Hall, transitional homes, etc. Ultimately her path has led her back to SJSU to continue educating and giving back to the the community that gave her so much. As an Alum of SJSU, she enjoys talking to students about their path and how the Gender Equity Center can play a role in their success as a student, and a future community leader.

Bonnie Sugiyama is the director of the San Jose State University PRIDE Center and Gender Equity Center. They have worked on social justice issues as a student and a professional at several CSU campuses for 20 years, including: the advocating and founding of the PRIDE Center at Sacramento State; the re-visioning of Sonoma State University’s Center for Culture, Gender and Sexuality (now known as the HUB); and the founding director of the PRIDE Center at San Jose State University.  

Bonnie also serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS), the parent organization of Outlet, an LGBTQ youth organization; and is a board member of the Bay Area Municipal Elections Committee (BAYMEC), an LGBTQ political action committee.  They also served on the national board of the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals as the People of Color Co-Chair. 

Bonnie holds a BS in Management Information Systems and a MA in Educational Technology from California State University, Sacramento.
