Sarah McGregor

Sarah McGregor, Ed.D. | Director

Sarah McGregor earned her doctoral degree in International and Multicultural Education at the University of San Francisco, an MA TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University, and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. She has taught in China, Costa Rica, New York and California. She began her Gateways career as an instructor teaching Business English. She loves listening to jazz, taking dance classes, and playing with her dog.

Kimberly Lynn Green

Kim Green | Associate Director / Instructor

Kim has worked at International Gateways for more than 20 years. She oversees faculty and student affairs. Kim also teaches higher level courses at International Gateways. She has a Master's degree in TESOL from Seattle University and taught ESL classes in places such as Japan, Seattle and Monterey before working at International Gateways. In her spare time, Kim likes to cook, eat and travel to learn about new cultures.

Ben Soller

Ben Soller | Academic Advisor / Instructor

Ben is the Academic Coordinator for International Gateways and has been teaching here since 2005. He has a B.A. in History from the University of Washington and an M.A. in TESL from Northern Arizona University. He enjoys listening to music, singing karaoke, riding his bike, and watching movies.

Ekaterina (Kate) Shcherbakova

Ekaterina (Kate) Shcherbakova | Admissions Manager

Kate earned a Ph.D. in English Lexicography from Ivanovo State University (Russia), and an M.A. in TESL/ Applied Linguistics from Iowa State University. She taught ESL and TOEFL preparation in Russia and served as a Fulbright instructor of Russian at Iowa State University. Kate joined IG as a part-time instructor in 2013 and taught a variety of English courses across all program levels. She especially enjoys teaching writing and TOEFL preparation. Since 2018 Kate oversees IG Admissions and provides immigration advising support. In free time she likes traveling with her family, cooking, reading, gardening, and making crafts.

Marwa Abbas

Marwa Abbas | Semester at SJSU (SAS) Manager

Marwa Abbas is the Semester at SJSU Manager at International Gateways. She recruits students overseas and helps with SAS Admission, course registration and selection. She has been working at International Gateways for 11 years and SJSU for 14 years. She received her M.A. in TESOL from San Jose State University. She has travelled to more than 10 different countries. She enjoys skiing with her family, and loves baking with her daughter, Jannah. She used to be on the National Team of Swimming in Egypt.

Claudio Sanchez

Claudio Sanchez | Undergraduate/ Graduate Advisor

Claudio has been teaching at IG since 2013. He has a B.A. in Italian Studies and Psychology from the University of California Santa Cruz and an M.A. in TESOL from San Jose State University.

Ai Jennifer Kobayashi

Ai Jennifer Kobayashi | Admissions Support Coordinator

Jennifer has a B.S. in Marine Biology from San Jose State University and comes from Singapore. She enjoys exploring the tidepools and photography.

Warshani Wijeratne

Warshani Wijeratne | Custom Programs Specialist

Warshani has a BA in English Literature and Linguistics from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and a Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. She has been teaching English as a second language since 2008. Warshani joined IG as a part time instructor in 2015 and now supports short term programs at IG and SJSU. She enjoys being with nature, and spending time with family, friends and pets
