The Academic and Test Prep program is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), so you can be sure the instruction you receive is of the highest quality.

Application Steps for Academic and Test Preparation (ATP)
Please continue with the ATP application in the following way:
- Complete and submit an application for ATP in CalStateApply. It is a good idea to have the PDF CalStateApply tutorial open in a separate tab while you work on your application. Read the tutorial before you begin your application.
- Look for an email from SJSU Admissions with a 9-digit SJSU ID number. You will need your SJSU ID number to do many things, so please memorize it.
- Receive an email from IG Admissions with the links to the payment page and secure document upload portal.
- Use the payment page to pay the ATP application fee of $150 USD.
- Download and complete the Student Consent for Release of Information and SJSU Declaration of Finance forms.
- Use the secure documents upload portal to upload the required documents to complete your ATP application.
- Receive the Acceptance Letter for the ATP program, and a digital I-20 (for F-1 students) issued by International Gateways. These documents will be sent to the email you indicate in your CalStateApply application for the ATP program.
Features
What will Fall 2020 look like?
Due to COVID-19, IG will continue offering ATP in the Fall 2020 online. Here is what we will be offering in the ATP program.
- Class time: “Live” class meetings for discussions with the teachers and your classmates.
- Outside the Class Assignments: Interactive activities which can be completed individually or with your classmates before class discussions. The assignments can be completed day or night (when it is best for students).
- One-on-one Teacher Feedback: Weekly time when students can receive one-on-one feedback from teachers.
- Electives: A variety of electives such as testing skills, academic vocabulary, and American culture and history.
- Activities: Cultural discussions, games, and Conversation Club.
- Academic and Conditional Admission/ Eligibility (ICA) Advising: Live sessions with IG advisors available.
Admissions
Who can apply?
- You must be 18 years or older or have graduated from high school
- F-1 and Non-F1 visa holders are welcome to apply
When can I start?
- Classes start year round (January, March, June, August or October)
- Study for a full semester (17 weeks) or a 9-week session

Concurrent Enrollment
- Full-time advanced students in the ATP program who meet the TOEFL requirement may be able to take one to two SJSU classes along with ATP English classes.
- Students may be eligible to take three to six units of transferable university credit in a variety of subjects.
- Concurrent enrollment courses are based on availability. Business, art, computer science, and some engineering courses are limited.
- There is an additional fee of $100 per unit for SJSU classes.
