Current Student Calendar
It is recommended that current students subscribe to this calendar to stay up to date with all events you may be expected to attended. This calendar applies to all programs (undergraduate, graduate, and certificate), be sure to read event details.

Submitting RN License for Credit
Students in the RN-BSN and CEP programs must submit their RN license for credit in order to graduate. You will submit your active RN License to your Undergraduate Graduation Evaluator for the College of Health and Human Science. You can find your assigned Graduation Evaluator here.
CNA Application Instructions
Current students who have completed semester 2 in the BSN program are eligible to apply to become a certified nurse assistant (CNA). See CDPH's Website for the most up to date information on how to apply.
Public Health Nurse Certification Instructions
Those who graduate with a BSN are eligible to apply for Public Health Nurse certification after passing the NCLEX and are licensed as a registered nurse.
Visit the California BRN website for information and to download the application or to apply online. Please note, this process typically takes several weeks to complete. Please plan accordingly.
Apply through the BRN
Applicant completes application and pays the fee to the BRN (can be done online).
Enter the following information into the appropriate fields:
-Name of Public Health Nurse Academic Program: San Jose State University-Bachelor of Science, Nursing
-Child Abuse/Neglect Prevention Training Provider Number/School Name: San Jose State University #13894
-Child Abuse/Neglect Prevention Training Course Name: Community Health Theory (see transcript for course name, i.e. NURS 172, NURS 127B).
-Child Abuse/Neglect Prevention Course Number of Hours: 9 hours
Documents that need to be sent to the School of Nursing
Applicant completes the top section of the REQUEST FOR TRANSCRIPT form and email it to nursing@sjsu.edu.
Applicants must request their Official Transcript from SJSU by following the directions provided by the Office of the Registrar. Upon requesting, applicants must note to have transcripts sent to nursing@sjsu.edu.
If the school of nursing does not receive both your official transcript and the REQUEST FOR TRANSCRIPT form, your request will not be processed and sent to the BRN.
Transcripts
Graduates must ensure that your degree has been posted on your transcript before you apply.
The nursing department will send your transcript directly to the BRN after receiving the REQUEST FOR TRANSCRIPT form and your official transcript.
