Monday, June 3, 2024 - Wednesday, June 5, 2024
Armin Moghadam
San Jose State University
This year we had a three-day workshop for our CC Faculty Members to learn about the basics of computer vision techniques and algorithms, code execution on Raspberry Pi, and adopting this topic in a related course (electronics, computer vision, AI, or similar courses). This workshop included the following topics:
- Basics of Python programming
- Introduction to Python syntax and data structures.
- Variables, loops, and functions.
- Basic input/output operations.
- Computer vision and image processing basics
- Understanding digital images and their representation.
- Image manipulation techniques using Python libraries.
- Introduction to image filtering and enhancement.
- Object detection using computer vision techniques
- Concepts of object detection and localization.
- Techniques for detecting objects in images using Computer Vision algorithms.
- Hands-on exercises on building simple object detection systems.
- Object detection using off-the-shelf deep learning models
- Introduction to Deep Learning and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs).
- Utilizing pre-trained CNN models for object detection.
- Practical sessions on implementing object detection using off-the-shelf deep learning models.
All the topics include hands-on experience, real-world examples, and projects. At the end of the workshop, our participants were able to learn and expand their knowledge in the programs and will transfer their knowledge to their classrooms.
