First Year Math and Writing Course Placement
To facilitate appropriate first-year course placement, the CSU evaluates your academic preparation in two areas: written communication and math/quantitative reasoning.
The evaluation takes into account multiple factors, including coursework, grades, and scores on standardized tests.
SJSU will not require SAT/ACT scores for Fall 2021 admission, and they will not be considered in our admission consideration process. We highly recommend that you submit your SAT and/or ACT scores, as this is one of several measures to assess math and English placement for admitted students who enroll at SJSU.
