Accreditation and Certification

Accreditation

The Wound and Ostomy Education Program is accredited by the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Society (WOCN). WOCN is a professional, international nursing society whose members are experts in the care of patients with wound, ostomy, and incontinence.

The nursing specialty is also recognized by the American Nurses Association (ANA). The WOCN Certification Board Exams meet the accreditation standards of the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).

Certification

Upon completion of the program, registered nurses can take the WOCN-Certification Board exams in the corresponding specialties. For master-prepared nurses, they may take the Advanced Practice (AP) certification in wound and/or ostomy specialties.

Nurses who have completed the Foot and Nail Course may also take the Certified Foot Care Specialist (CFCS) competency exam offered by the American Foot Care Nurses Association to become Certified Foot Care Specialist (CFCS).
