Q: How do I find my password to sign in to Next Steps?

A: The sign in to Next Steps is your SJSUOne/MySJSU sign in. You will use your nine-digit SJSU ID and the password you created when you activated your SJSUOne account. To activate your SJSUOne account or reset your password, please go here: https://sjsuone.sjsu.edu/sjsuone/resetpassword

Q:Will you be changing the Next Steps Intent to Enroll deadline for Fall 2020?

A: Yes, the Next Steps Intent to Enroll deadline has been moved to June 1, 2020 for admitted students. This deadline has been recently updated so please know that your “To Do List” will reflect this update shortly. 

Q: Fall 2020 Orientation is now virtual, do I still have to pay the entire $250 enrollment deposit?

A:The enrollment deposit for Fall 2020 has been reduced to the cost of virtual orientation for undergraduate students. For freshmen, that cost is $100. For Transfers, the cost is $80

Your nonrefundable Enrollment Deposit covers the cost of orientation and reserves your spot to attend SJSU. No amount of the reduced enrollment deposit will be applied to your tuition and fees for fall.

We have recently finalized the reduction to the enrollment deposit, we will send separate messages to students that have already paid their enrollment deposit and separate messages to students that have not yet paid their enrollment deposit with more details about this change.

Q: I already paid the full $250 enrollment deposit, will I get a refund for the difference between the amount I paid and the new enrollment deposit amount?

A:Now that we have finalized the new enrollment deposit amount, we will post information about your options for a credit applied to your tuition and fees or the process to request a refund to your MySJSU account shortly.

Q: How will I know that my enrollment deposit went through?

Once your payment is submitted to our payment system, you will receive an email receipt directly from the payment system. The date and time stamp on that receipt must be prior to 11:59 pm on May 1 for a fall term and 11:59 pm on December 1 for a spring term.

**For Fall 2020, the deadline for undergraduate freshmen and transfer admitted students has been extended to 11:59 pm on June 1, 2020.**

Then, you will receive an email receipt from the nextsteps@sjsu.edu email account itemizing your activity on Next Steps including your orientation date.

If you do not receive that email within two business days, there may be a problem with your payment. You must contact us immediately or your application will be withdrawn. Forward the copy of your payment receipt to nextsteps@sjsu.edu and make sure it includes your SJSU ID.

Q: You keep posting reminders to my MySJSU account to complete Next Steps. These are general reminders sent to all students, right?

No. We only send reminders to those students who have not completed the Next Steps process. If you are receiving reminders about completing Next Steps, then our records show that you have not completed all the steps. You should sign back into your Next Steps account and complete the remaining steps by the deadline posted to your MySJSU account or you risk the withdrawal of your application.
