Bio: Mitzi has four years of experience in academic advising and is passionate about supporting students as they navigate their academic journeys with confidence! She began her advising career at the University of Nevada, Reno as an Academic Advisor in the College of Science. She also served as the Coordinator of Golden Scholars, a program dedicated to supporting first-generation science students and establishing a strong sense of community.

Prior to joining the H&A Student Success Center, Mitzi worked at San José State University as a Senior Student Academic Success Specialist in the Exploratory Student Success Center. In that role, she supported undeclared students as they explored their interests, clarified their goals, and successfully transitioned into their intended majors.

Mitzi is deeply committed to expanding access and opportunity in higher education, particularly for students navigating systems that were not built with them in mind. She is inspired by the resilience, brilliance, and cultural wealth students bring to campus and strives to create spaces where they feel seen, supported, and empowered to reach their goals. Her work is grounded in equity, community, and the belief that every student deserves the tools and guidance to thrive both in college and beyond.

In her free time, Mitzi enjoys reading a good book and working out! She also enjoys watching true crime shows and horror movies!
