- Other Frequently-Asked Questions
How are appointments done?
Appointments will be through Zoom. If Zoom is not available to you, you'll be receiving a confirmation email with the advisor's name. Contact the advisor directly for alternative solutions.
Can I choose which advisor I meet with?
At this time, no. Any advisor in the HASSC can assist you with any questions you might have in regards to general university requirements.
I can't come to my appointment! What do I do?
You'll receive a confirmation email with the advisor that you'll be meeting with. Contact the HASSC advisor directly.
I'm having problems scheduling an appointment. What do I do?
Email firstname.lastname@example.org with a screenshot of the issue and briefly describe what you did to bring up the error.
What Information Should I Have Ready?
Make sure to have access to a copy of any and all advising documents that might be relevant to the reason of your appointment. Digital copies are fine, as long as they're current. Your advisor has access to your transcript and transfer credit that you see on MySJSU, so if you don't see something you think you should be seeing, bring that up to your advisor.
We will be offering several scheduled drop-in sessions at various times of the semester. Drop-ins are 15 minute sessions for quick questions.
Drop ins are currently closed for Fall 2023 semester. Check back here for any updates.
- Where do I need to go for drop-ins?
- Drop-ins are online via Zoom. Sign-up on QLess using the walkthrough in the previous question.
- How do I join drop-ins?
- What can not be discussed during drop ins?
Topics that can not be covered during drops-ins include:
Change of Major/Adding a Minor, Course Late Drop, Semester Withdrawal, Choosing a Major/Minor, Grad Planning, Roadmap planning over one semester, Academic Notice (Probation), Disqualification/Reinstatement, Transfer Credit Equivalency, and Former Student Returning.
This is because the above topics take more than 15 minutes to go over, and these are express appointments. Schedule a regular 30 minute appointment here
- Drop-ins is open, but I can't join?
- There are times when drop-in will closed earlier than expected due to a high volume of students and the amount we can serve per session. We do recommend checking back during drop-in times as we do reopen if we are able to serve more students.
- How long are drop-in sessions?
- 15 minute sessions for quick questions. Need more than 15 minutes?
