Erika Alvarez

Sr. Academic Advisor

Erika earned her BS in Environmental Resource Management from CSU, Bakersfield and later completed her MA in Counseling and Guidance at SJSU. Erika has worked in undergraduate advising since Spring 2022 and joined the College of Social Sciences SSC team in Fall 2025.

Prior to working in higher education, Erika worked at a local nonprofit where she mobilized high school and college students to participate in community service events across Santa Clara County. As an academic advisor, Erika focuses on empowering students to actively engage in their academic journeys while providing consistent guidance and encouragement. She is committed to creating a supportive advising environment where students feel valued throughout their time at SJSU.

In her free time, Erika enjoys exploring hiking trails, watching movies at home or at the theater, and cheering on the San Francisco 49ers during football season.
