Program Description

Did you know that Cuba is the only country that Americans need government permission to visit? In fact, there are very few ways to visit Cuba, but this Summer School Abroad (SSA) will let you do just that!

This is a 29-day immersive program to Cuba where you can study Spanish (elementary to advanced) or a course on Cuban Culture directly at the University of Havana. Not sure of your language level? Don't worry; you'll take a quick placement exam on site and be placed into the course that best meets your needs. We are also providing additional seminars about Cuban music, politics, and history.

This SSA includes:

  • Salsa lessons
  • Walking tour of Old Havana
  • Visit to a farmer's market
  • Homestays with local families
  • On-site Program Director to make your experience exceptional!

Testimonials

"I enjoyed learning about the culture every day, whether it was in class or
walking around the neighborhood. I also enjoyed the group activities
because they all gave a perspective of the political climate and how
Cubans have lived and how they're living now."

"I really enjoyed the Afrocuban/LGBTQ community space and
conversation. It was the highlight of my trip and even had the chance to
see an amazing film hosted by them."

"I loved both of the homestay families. I stayed with Mari, but because we
had dinners with Karelia and Yessi I developed a very close relationship
with them, that will last forever. I recommend them to your future
travelers because of how warm and welcoming they are. They not only
accommodate you as a guest but they treat you like family and that is
something I will never forget. Honestly they were the highlight of my
trip."
