Expository Reading and Writing Course
ERWC 3.0 Online Workshops for Spring 2023
San José State University and the Santa Clara County Office of Education have set the Spring 2023 dates for our CSU Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC) 3.0 online workshops series.

ERWC 3.0 Online Workshop Interest Form
Note: Though each module is intended for one week. Participants can work at their own pace as new modules become available after activities in the previous module have been completed. Facilitators will be responding to messages and will be available for vitual on demand one-on-one consultations.
Workshop Dates:
- Learning Focus 1: February 6 - February 13, 6 hours of asynchronous learning
- Learning Focus 2: March 6 - March 13, 6 hours of asynchronous learning
- Learning Focus 3: April 17 - April 24, 6 hours of asynchronous learning
- Learning Focus 4: May 1 - May 8, 6 hours of asynchronous learning
Asynchronous participation via Canvas is required to earn ERWC 3.0 certification. Participants must complete 80% of activities in order to earn ERWC certification.
Interested in adopting the ERWC?
High schools wishing to adopt the ERWC through the CSU are required to do the following:- Updating the school’s certified "a-g" course list through the A-G Course Management Portal.
- Ensuring that course enrollments are reported for CALPADS using Course Code 2118.
- Providing program data to the CSU through an occasional online survey.
- Overseeing (with school administrators as appropriate) the implementation of the course.
4) Ensure that all implementing English teachers have participated in approved professional learning for the course.
5) Certify that the course is being taught as designed.
6) Teachers wishing to teach the course much attend a 24-hour workshop (four day) workshop to be certified.
