Categories of Membership
Regular membership is open to Emeritus and/or retired tenured faculty, faculty participating in FERP, retired lecturers, and retired academic administrators who are CalPERS annuitants. These individuals become regular members of the Association upon application and payment of annual dues (first year membership is free).
Associate membership may be granted to faculty, librarians, and academic administrators with retired status in other accredited institutions of higher learning; San Jose State University pre-retirees (reduced time base); spouses of deceased members of the San José State University Emeritus and Retired Faculty Association; and counselors. Associate members have the same rights and privileges in the organization as regular members and pay the same dues as regular members.
NOTE: Membership in the organization varies from year to year, with new members joining throughout the year; the member list contains only those members who joined by the deadline set by the treasurer.
Dues are $24 annually and are collected in June of each year.
To apply for membership print an application form. Next, send the completed form and your dues to the membership chair indicated on the application.
Listserv (email distribution list)
An internet distribution list provides members with important association and retired faculty information. This list is an automated email list. Messages posted to the list are automatically sent to all email addresses of all subscribers. Anybody who is subscribed to the list can post a message. This list is unmoderated so that a posted message is immediately sent out to everyone on the list, that is no one approves or edits messages posted by members. Only members subscribed to the list can post messages.
To join the SJSU_ERFA email list send an email message to Carol Christensen at email@example.com and provide your name and email address. You will receive an email message confirming that you have been added to the listserv.
