The SpartUp ecosystem leverages University, local, national, and international resources to provide programs, services and partnerships that equip our member entrepreneurs with the knowledge and support they need to establish successful ventures. With our advantageous location in Silicon Valley, we capitalize on University strengths, local business networks, city resources, and entrepreneurial expertise to support and motivate a vibrant startup community in San José. Many of our programs support education, research and entrepreneurship for SJSU students through internships, professional experience, and opportunities to learn firsthand about startup creation and growth.

SpartUp Incubator

Spartans represent a diverse demographic where access to support, networks, systems and opportunities for entrepreneurship are limited. The SpartUp Incubator is a collaborative ecosystem that provides provide a web of support for the Spartan Entrepreneur, our Spartaneur, along the startup journey—from idea, through prototype, to planning and fundraising.

Silicon Valley SBDC

San José State University is the host of the Silicon Valley Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which focuses on supporting innovation and expanding Santa Clara County small businesses that are involved with the creation, development, or launch of products or services. The SpartUp Incubator is a collaborative ecosystem that provides a web of support for the Spartan Entrepreneur, our Spartaneur, along the startup journey—from idea, through prototype, to planning and fundraising.

Student IDEAs Club

IDEAS was formed by the College of Business to bring together students from different majors and backgrounds to share and collaborate on innovative ideas. Their goals are to use student’s skill sets, interests and passion to create projects then design these projects. They use professional networking, technology, creativity, and the tools necessary to get ideas going. 

Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC)

Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge (SVIC) is a program offered by the Silicon Valley Center for Entrepreneurship designed to cultivate entrepreneurs at San José State University and provide the necessary tools and guidance to enable students to take their innovative business ideas to the next level. Winners of the competition receive cash awards to further advance their innovations, along with mentorship and networking opportunities.
