Business Minor

Minor in Business for Undergraduate Students

The Business Minor is designed for students majoring in any non-business degree. The Business Minor provides course work through which non-business students can obtain skills and learn tools used in business.

Request for the Business minor are accepted when the eligibility requirements are met:

  • SJSU Cum GPA: 2.6 or better
  • Complete the following requirements:
    • BUS3 160 – Fundamentals of Management & Organizational Behavior
    • One additional business minor requirement

Note:

  • Requests for the minor in business may be completed through service #1 (Submit a Request).
  • All Business Administration majors will receive first consideration when enrolling in business courses.

To earn the business minor degree students must:

  • complete the minor requirements as stated in the catalog
  • earn a combined cumulative GPA of 2.0 (“C”) or above in all requirements for the minor
  • complete 6 units in residence at San José State University.
  • have at least 12 units of minor coursework completely distinct and separate from the course work in the major (University Policy S16-4 [pdf]). Courses in support or preparation of the major may be included in the minor.

Minor in Business for Aviation Majors

Requests for the minor in business for aviation majors may be completed through service #1 (Submit a Request).  When you complete your request, your MyProgress Report will be updated within 5-7 business days, and your business minor will show under program plan.  Lastly, review the minor requirements carefully, as they are based on your unique area of specialization.

Minor in Business Industrial Technology Majors

Requests for the minor in business for Engineering Technology majors may be completed through service #1 (Submit a Request).  When you complete your request, your MyProgress Report will be updated within 5-7 business days, and your business minor will show under program plan.  Lastly, review the minor requirements carefully, as they are based on your concentration (Computer Network Systems Management or Manufacturing Systems).
