Scholarship Opportunities

Department of Accounting and Finance Scholarships

The Department of Accounting and Finance has numerous scholarships available, each with different requirements. 

Outstanding Accounting Student

$1,000. Recipient must be a senior concentrating in accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.4.

Outstanding Accounting Information Systems Student

$1,000. Recipient must be a senior concentrating in accounting information systems with a minimum GPA of 3.4.

Outstanding Corporate Accounting and Finance Student

$1,000. Recipient must be a senior concentrating in corporate accounting and finance with a minimum GPA of 3.4.

Kyle Williams Memorial Scholarship

Award varies, but averages $2,000. Recipient must be a member of Beta Alpha Psi, maintain a high GPA, and write a personal statement.

Howard Turetsky Memorial Scholarship

Award varies, but averages $1,000. Recipient must be an active member of Beta Alpha Psi and maintain a high GPA.

Ivy and Kenneth Laverty Scholarship

Award varies, but averages $1,000. Recipient must be a mature student with a good GPA.

Mark and Kathy Loveless Scholarship

Award may vary, but averages $5,000. Recipient must be a veteran with current or past active duty military service, concentrate in accounting, and maintain a high GPA.

Wayne H. and Frances G. Towne Scholarship

$1,000. Recipient must be a full-time accounting student with a GPA of 3.0.  Mr. and Mrs. Towne graduated from SJSU in 1940 with degrees in social science and elementary education.

Michael Williams Honorarium Scholarships

$1,100 each. Twelve scholarships awarded to accounting students in honor of Prof. Mallory McWilliams, Prof. Arnold Pahler, Prof. Louis Fischel, alums Bruce Levin, Michael Honeycutt and Lisa Zaccheo Allen.  Recipients must have completed the course in financial auditing, be working students, and be engaged with SJSU.

Marcory Cindy Tarlit Caliguiran Memorial Scholarship

$1,000. Recipient must be an accounting student with a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Women in Finance Scholarship

Provided by The Mortgage Reports. $1,000.  Must be a woman with a 3.0 GPA, enrolled in Finance or CAF.

Other Scholarships

Financial Women of San Francisco

The Financial Women of San Francisco (FWSF) offers 10 scholarships to Bay Area women studying finance/accounting and have a passion for leadership and giving back to their communities. Undergrads receive $5,000 and grad students receive $10,000.  Recipients are asked to attend a luncheon in their honor in June of the current year and The Financial Woman of the Year luncheon in September of the same year.
