Devin Virassammy Bio

M.S. Chemical Engineering 2023

Devin is a Bay Area native who earned his B.S. in Biomolecular Engineering from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he conducted research in the Daniel Kim Lab on Exosomal mRNA as biomarkers for immunotherapy resistance. After graduating, he moved to the South Bay to pursue his M.S. in Chemical Engineering at San José State University. During this time, he began his industry career at Synthekine, working in Protein Sciences on biophysical characterization to support drug discovery. For his Industry Master’s project, Devin developed a high-throughput protein production workflow using automated liquid handling systems. Devin now works at Merck, where he focuses on high-throughput screening of antibodies across a variety of disease areas, contributing to the early stages of therapeutic development. Outside of work, Devin enjoys hiking along the California coast, exploring new restaurants with family and friends, and traveling abroad.
