Samuel Yeung is a materials engineer specializing in materials characterization and failure analysis. After four years at Tesla, he leveraged his broad technical background to transition to Cerebras Systems, a startup developing advanced AI computing systems Samuel Yeung is a materials engineer specializing in materials characterization and failure analysis. After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering from San José State University in 2010, he began his career at Nanosys, developing quantum dot display technology and building expertise in electron microscopy. Seeking career growth, he returned to SJSU for his Master’s degree, conducting battery research under Dr. Dahyun Oh while balancing full-time work and graduate studies.

This experience strengthened his technical skills and opened new career opportunities. Near the completion of his Master’s program, Samuel joined Tesla, first in the Cell Engineering team working on battery R&D, and later in the Power Electronics Reliability team, where he focused on advanced materials analysis and failure investigations for products such as Powerwall, Megapack, and Supercharger. After four years at Tesla, he leveraged his broad technical background to transition to Cerebras Systems, a startup developing advanced AI computing systems. He is passionate about applying scientific tools to solve engineering challenges and enjoys sharing his journey to inspire students to explore the many directions a materials engineering career can take.
