- DANC 010: Dance Appreciation

A survey of dance as art in the Western world. The course examines the diversity of people, cultures and events that led to the development of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap and Musical Theatre Dance.

Traditional or theatrical dance forms selected from one or at the most two specific cultures. Classical ballet, modern, jazz, and tap dance are excluded.

- DANC 102: Dance in World Cultures

Survey of dance in selected world cultures; the role of dance in society; consideration of style, historical background and religious/cultural influences. Included are: Caribbean, West African, Mexican, Balkan, European, Asian and American cultures. Prerequisite: Completion of core GE, satisfaction of Writing Skills Test and upper division standing. For students who begin continuous enrollment at a CCC or a CSU in Fall 2005 or later, completion of, or corequisite in a 100W course is required.
