Department of Design

Department of Design Open Houses

Below you will find information from our design programs about their Admitted Spartan Day open houses that will be held between 12:00 - 2:00 PM. The department office is located in Room 120 of the Art & Design building should you have any questions or need help finding your way. We’ll also have some goodies there, so please stop by and say hello!

Animation & Illustration

Please RSVP here to attend the Animation & Illustration presentation. Arrive at the Art & Design building and proceed to Room 133 between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM. Volunteers will help seat everyone and the main presentation will begin promptly at 12:30 PM. After the presentation, in-person attendees will have a chance to tour the facilities and meet with faculty and students.

Guests joining on Zoom should contact Program Coordinator, David Chai at david.chai@sjsu.edu for a link.

Graphic Design

Please arrive at the Art & Design building and proceed to Room 216 between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM for a presentation with Graphic Design faculty. After the presentation attendees will have a chance to ask questions and meet faculty.

Industrial Design

Please arrive at the Art & Design building and proceed to Room 205 between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM for a presentation with Industrial Design faculty. After the presentation attendees will have a chance to tour the facilities and meet with faculty and students.

Interior Design

Please arrive at the Industrial Studies building to Room 241 between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM. Volunteers will help seat everyone, and then the main presentation led by Interior Design faculty will begin promptly at 12:30 pm. After the presentation, in-person attendees will have a chance to tour the facilities and meet with faculty and students.

  • Dance Students - Start the tour at the Spartan Complex Room 216

Journalism and Mass Communications (JMC) Open House

Take a tour of everything JMC from 12:00 - 2:00 PM on Admitted Spartans Day! Visit us at Dwight Bentel Hall, where we will have tours of our TV Studio, Advertising Agency, Spartan Daily office, and the VR Lab.

If you need directions to Dwight Bentel Hall, stop by our table on the 7th Street Paseo and we'd be happy to help.

The Department of Philosophy will be tabling at the ASD Resource Fair (8:00 AM -12:00 PM in El Paseo de Cesar Chavez) and will have a table at the College of Humanities & the Arts Open House (12:00 - 2:00 PM in Inudistrial Studies Room 233). Come find out about the Philosophy major, our certificate programs, and our departmental community—plus get some stickers and candy! Admitted Philosophy majors can also claim their Philosophy Department T-Shirts!
