College of Science Major Advising Model

Students declared a College of Science major, who have 59 or less units earned will utilize the College of Science Student Success Center advising services for General Education and Major Advising questions, concerns, and recommendations.

Students declared a College of Science major, who have 60 or more units earned will utilize the College of Science Student Success Center advising services for General Education questions, concerns, and recommendations. Major Advising questions, concerns, and recommendations students will need to connect with their assigned major faculty advisor.

How to determine how many units you have earned:

  • Generate an Unofficial Transcript. On the bottom of the generated unofficial transcript follow the "ALL COLLEGE" row to the "UE" column to identify your units earned.

Most Faculty Advisors are out of office during winter and summer sessions and students who have major advising questions can refer to their department to inquire about their appropriate point of contact.

College of Science Major Advising can be accessed through College of Science Advising I or College of Science Advising II Canvas courses. If you do not have access to the College of Science Advising on Canvas, submit a request to be added to a College of Science Advising Canvas course. Students need to use their SJSU Canvas credentials to access these courses.

Less than 60 units earned (Freshmen and Sophomore) advising

Students with less than 60 units earned are encouraged to meet with a CoS-SSC advisor every semester.

Students can connect with an advisor via our advising services accessed through the College of Science Advising Canvas Course or in-person.

Services will not be available during Campus Closures, Office Closures, or Holidays.
