Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness

The CS Department received an Implementation Grant from the Center of Inclusive Computing, in the amount of $800,000 for two years (2021/10/1 - 2023/9/30), to improve the diversity of students in undergraduate programs in computing.

Outstanding Faculty News

The Computer Science Department's analyst Marcia Block received the 2021 College of Science Staff Excellence award in August 2021.

Outstanding Alumni News

Jonathan Oribello (MS’20 Bioinformatics) received the 2021 College of Science Outstanding Recent Graduate award in August 2021.

Outstanding Student News

Senior student Alvin Lin (advisor Prof. Teng Moh) received a $2,500 scholarship award from the California Association of Criminalists in July 2021. He was recommended by the Department of Justice Studies.

Outstanding Faculty News

Prof. Ben Reed received the IEEE Dependable Computing DSN-2021 Test-of-Time award for his co-authored paper, "Zab: High-performance broadcast for primary-backup systems." The work was published at IEEE DSN-2011 in June 2021.
