College of Science Equivalency Petitions

• Submit a request to receive an equivalency petition for a College of Science course.
  • This is for students seeking evaluation of course equivalency for courses that exist within the following departments at SJSU:
    • Biological Sciences
    • Chemistry
    • Computer Science
    • Geology
    • Mathematics and Statistics
    • Meteorology and Climate Science
    • Physics and Astronomy

SJSU Excess Units Petitions

• College of Science students interested in submitting a petition for excess units will upload their petition to DocuSign for review and signing.
  • Students with less than 59 units earned should list their CoS-SSC Advisor and the College of Science Associate Dean as signers.
    • CoS-SSC requests meeting with students to discuss their interest in a petition prior to signing. Contact CoS-SSC to set up an appointment.
  • Students with 60 or more units earned should list their Department Chair and College of Science Associate Dean as signers.

SJSU Reinstatement Petition

• Former College of Science students are recommended to collaborate with CoS-SSC via Former Student Advising to navigate restoring good academic standing at SJSU.

SJSU Repeat Petitions

• College of Science students interested in submitting a petition for a Repeat Petition are recommended to review SJSU's Repeat Policy prior to submitting a petition.
  • Students with less than 59 units earned should list their CoS-SSC Advisor and Associate Dean for review.
    • CoS-SSC requests meeting with students to discuss their interest in a petition prior to signing. Contact CoS-SSC to set up an appointment.
  • Students with 60 or more units earned should list their Faculty Advisor and the College of Science Associate Dean for review.

Transfering Credit to SJSU

  • CoS-SSC recommends students collaborate with a CoS-SSC advisor to confirm course to course articulation prior to enrolling in any external non-SJSU course.
