About the Lab
The SJSU Digital Twin Lab supports teaching, research, experimentation, and collaboration in digital twins, artificial intelligence, simulation and physical AI. Managed through the College of Information, Data and Society, the lab serves students, faculty, researchers and partners from across the university.
Digital twins connect virtual models with physical assets, environments and processes. In the lab, users can create interactive representations of real systems, connect models with real or synthetic data, test scenarios and develop tools for monitoring, prediction, optimization and decision support.
What the Lab Makes Possible
- Model buildings, infrastructure, machines, robots and other physical systems in interactive 3D environments.
- Develop simulation-first workflows that allow ideas and AI models to be tested before they are deployed in the physical world.
- Connect sensors, data streams and computational models to create dynamic digital representations.
- Generate synthetic data for robotics, computer vision and multimodal AI applications.
- Support interdisciplinary courses, capstone projects, faculty-student research, demonstrations and industry-engaged learning.
Who the Lab Serves
The Digital Twin Lab is a university-wide SJSU resource designed to support students, faculty and researchers across disciplines, including data science, computer science, engineering, sustainability, urban planning, design, business and other areas that study or manage complex physical systems.
