“The Fulbright Program's mission is to bring a little more knowledge, a little more reason, and a little more compassion into world affairs and thereby increase the chance that nations will learn at last to live in peace and friendship.”  - Senator J. William Fulbright.

The Fulbright Program is the United States’ flagship program that promotes international educational and cultural exchange. As articulated by Senator J. William Fulbright (above), its goal is to increase mutual understanding between the United States and other countries through the exchange of people and knowledge. Senator Fulbright’s vision was approved by Congress and signed into law in 1946. By providing grants to students, scholars, and professionals, the Fulbright program strives to create opportunities for individuals and groups to take on advanced research and teaching opportunities across borders. The Fulbright Program is headed by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
