Contact an Advisor

Who is my advisor?

Math majors are emailed around the beginning of every semester with the name and contact information of their advisor.  Please check your inbox and your spam folder for the email.  If you can not find it, you may email    math-info@sjsu.edu.

If you do not have an advisor, contact the lead advisor, Dr. Cayco, at bem.cayco@sjsu.edu.

How do I get my advising hold removed?

Every semester an advising hold is put on the record of juniors and seniors of college of science majors.  To remove the hold, a student must meet their advisor for an advising session.

What do I need to change my major to math?

Instructions on how to change your major can be found in the College of Science Student Resources webpage.  Eligibility requirements to apply can be found  the department's page on   majoring in math.

Do not contact the math advisor for the following questions:

  • Why can't I enroll in a particular Math Course?
  • Do I have to take a Math Workshop?
  • When I try to enroll in a class it says that I don't meet the prerequisites.

For these and other questions, please first read the resources in this website (typically under Calculus or Courses) and, if your question is still not answered, contact the Department of Mathematics and Statistics Office, MacQuarrie Hall 308; (408)924-5100; math-info@sjsu.edu
