IBC Meetings and Deadlines

The IBC currently meets on the 1st Friday of the month. If you are interested in attending an IBC meeting, please email biosafety@sjsu.edu to inquire. BUAs can be submitted at any time to biosafety@sjsu.edu.

Deadlines

The IBC welcomes the early submittal of BUAs for review and approval.

Research:

• New applications/Amendments - Submit any time. BUA must be approved before beginning work with biohazards.
• Renewals - Must be submitted at least 1 month before expiration date.

Summer/Fall Courses:

• March 15 - New course submissions
• April 1 - Amendments or renewals of approved BUAs
• First day of Summer Session One - Summer Session One courses with currently approved BUAs that only need to submit an amendment with updated instructional personnel. (Current instructional personnel should be listed on the main BUA and sign the signature page).
• First day of Summer Session Two - Summer Session Two courses with currently approved BUAs that only need to submit an amendment with updated instructional personnel. (Current instructional personnel should be listed on the main BUA and sign the signature page).
• First day of Fall Term - Fall courses with currently approved BUAs that only need to submit an amendment with updated instructional personnel. (Current instructional personnel should be listed on the main BUA and sign the signature page). 

Winter/Spring Courses:

• October 15 - New course submissions
• November 1 - Amendments or renewals of approved BUAs
• First day of Winter Session - Winter session courses with currently approved BUAs that only need to submit an amendment with updated instructional personnel. (Current instructional personnel should be listed on the main BUA and sign the signature page). 
• First day of Spring Term - Spring courses with currently approved BUAs that only need to submit an amendment with updated instructional personnel. (Current instructional personnel should be listed on the main BUA and sign the signature page).
