Dean's Profile
Dr. Marco Pagani is the interim dean of the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business and a professor of finance. Since he joined SJSU in 2006, Marco has served in many faculty and administrative roles. As the associate dean of the Lucas Graduate School of Business, he oversaw a significant growth in graduate enrollment, as well as an expansion of interdisciplinary degrees and executive education programs. As director of accreditation he spearheaded the successful efforts by the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business to receive the extension of business accreditation by the AACSB in August 2021. He was the founding co-director of the Center for Banking and Financial Services and established partnerships with several local financial institutions.
Marco’s research and teaching interests are in the areas of Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and Institutions, Investments, and Derivative Securities. He published peer-reviewed articles in several academic journals among which Management Science, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Accounting and Finance. Marco published various case studies in publications like the Business Case Journal, the Journal of Case Studies, and the Journal of Critical Incidents. Lately he has been working on articles and case studies about financial censorship and its impact on the financial services industry.
Marco holds a Ph.D. from Georgia State University, an M. Sc. in Finance from HEC, University of Montreal, Canada, and a B.S. in Economics from the University Lyon II, France. He enjoys hiking and he is an avid supporter of A.C. Milan, the soccer team from his hometown.
