What We Do
As a part of the Office the President and the official voice of San José State University, the Strategic Communications and Marketing team oversees internal and external communications, crisis communications and media relations, university news and social media, digital marketing and web communications, and executive communications.
Our goal is to provide expertise and support to the SJSU community and promote the engagement, awareness and affinity with our brand. We accomplish this by elevating our transformative nature and the rich traditions and accomplishments of our faculty, students, staff, and alumni. We employ collaborative marketing and communication strategies, proactive media placements, and successful public relations initiatives on a regional, national, and global level.
This critical work helps us to position SJSU as a leader in higher education around the world.
Our Strategic Approach
Using a hybrid agency-collaborator approach, we partner with colleges, divisions and departments across SJSU to build and implement integrated and strategic marketing and communications plans that will enhance the university’s priorities, initiatives and mission.
We are the university's go-to hub for robust storytelling of students, faculty, alumni, university key initiatives, academic excellence (e.g. research, innovation, creativity, arts), and donor engagement. We share these stories through traditional and digital communication channels with the overarching goal of having our targeted audiences informed, connected and engaged to SJSU.
