What We Do

As the official voice of San José State University, the University Marketing and Communications team oversees internal and external communications, university media relations, editorial content and news, digital marketing, advertising, web and digital communications, university magazine, visual communication and design, photography and videography, executive communications, online enrollment marketing and athletics marketing and sports media relations.

Our goal is to provide expertise and support to the SJSU community and promote the engagement, awareness and affinity with our brand. We accomplish this by elevating our transformative nature and the rich traditions and accomplishments of our faculty, students, staff, and alumni. We employ collaborative marketing and communication strategies, proactive media placements, and successful public relations initiatives on a regional, national, and global level.

This critical work helps us to position SJSU as a leader in higher education around the world.

Our Strategic Approach

Using a hybrid agency-collaborator approach, we partner with colleges, divisions and departments across SJSU to build and implement integrated and strategic marketing and communications plans that will enhance the university’s priorities, initiatives and mission.

We are the university's go-to hub for robust storytelling of students, faculty, alumni, university key initiatives, academic excellence (e.g. research, innovation, creativity, arts), and donor engagement. We share these stories through traditional and digital communication channels with the overarching goal of having our targeted audiences informed, connected and engaged to SJSU.
