The BS Computer Science and Geology program, jointly offered by the Department of Computer Science and the Geology Department, prepares students with foundational knowledge and skills for applying cutting-edge approaches to geological problems in areas such as earthquake prediction, water resources, and geotechnical engineering. The curriculum includes courses in artificial intelligence, data structures, and Python, as well as engineering geology, GIS, and geophysics. Students will also have opportunities to work closely with faculty, gaining valuable experience in activities such as flying drones, processing LiDAR data, creating digital maps, and writing software. Students in this interdisciplinary program will meet the growing demand for employees with skills such as managing, acquiring, and analyzing big data sets and running computer models.
