What We Do
Student Involvement at San Jose State University
Grounded in our commitment to the values of inclusivity, integrity, and success, we provide opportunities for students to engage and develop. We promote community, leadership and learning through our innovative programs and services.
We aspire to provide transformational experiences through purposeful engagement to enhance student services.
The following are shared values for the office of Student Involvement which are the foundational structures that drive our work to be positive and supportive change-agents in students’ lives:
We believe that our collective perseverance, resilience, and hard work as a team model our passion as a fundamental asset that supports students’ success.
We believe that it is important to do our due diligence in providing diverse interactions, support, and conversations to provide equitable engagement for students.
We believe in using ethical decision-making, providing accurate information, having clear expectations, and applying appropriate accountability as best practices in guiding the work that we do to assist students.
We believe that it is necessary to work collaboratively, not only among our staff, with SJSU students/campus/ community partners to create varied perspectives so that we can reach broad, and intentional, representation of our students.
We believe that it is necessary to have open communication with students, as well as stakeholders, about planning, developing, and implementation of programs and services that our office provides as a means to create a positive community.
