Leadership development is a journey, and the Student Involvement staff are committed to supporting students at every stage, from individuals interested in exploring the myriad leadership opportunities SJSU has to offer to experienced leaders looking to translate their experiences into marketable skills as they apply for jobs and graduate programs.

Fall 2020 Workshops and Opportunities

We have plenty of great workshops for you this semester. No registration is needed for any of these virtual workshops, but you can sign up to receive the Zoom invitation for these events directly in your inbox by signing up for our Leadership Opportunities Newsletter.

  • Managing Conflict with Others | Thursday, September 10th (12-1pm)
    • Conflict is inevitable, whether it is between friends, family, co-workers, peers, classmates, or strangers. However, conflict isn’t always bad, and it can lead to learning and growth if managed appropriately. Join some of our Student Involvement team for this discussion about how to be a better conflict manager!

  • Latinas in Leadership | Tuesday, September 22nd (1-2pm)
    • Join us for this great panel of incredible Latinx women, who will be joining us to share their experiences with leadership, offer insight and advice, and answer questions from students. All students are welcome!

  • Motivating and Inspiring a Group | Tuesday, October 6th (12-1pm)
    • When the morale of a group is low, it can be difficult to overcome other challenges. We will be hosting a discussion about what tools and tricks you can use to help motivate you and your team!

  • Advocacy and Leadership | Thursday, October 29 (1-2pm)
    • "Advocacy" might mean different things to different people, but what is it really all about? We need advocacy in leadership now more than ever, so join us for this conversation about what advocacy looks like and how to be an effective ally to different groups.

  • Coming Together - Managing a Diverse Group | Tuesday, November 10 (12-1pm)
    • In today's political climate, differences between individuals can easily prevent a group from coming together effectively. How can we use leadership to establish common ground and accomplish our collective goals together? Join us for this discussion about the listening and learning of working with others.

  • Student-Facilitated Workshop | Wednesday, November 18 (4-5pm)
    • Do you have a great leadership idea to share? We want to give you the floor! We've reserved this slot for one of our great student leaders to step up and share their insight with their pespective with the SJSU community. Please email if you are interested or have any questions!
