Learning Outcomes

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) strives to retain and graduate first-generation, historically low-income, and educationally underserved college students by offering support services designed to assist in overcoming the numerous challenges a new academic and social environment may present.

Planned Learning Outcomes for Students in EOP:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the university environment (i.e., course requirements, policies and procedures, deadlines, financial aid, campus resources, etc.) and how they fit into this framework.
  2. Develop and apply the skills of accountability and responsibility for their own educational success.
  3. Assume the ethical responsibilities of the educated citizen, including basic understanding of the economic, political, and social issues affecting our campus, local, and global communities.
  4. Engage in critical and analytical dialogue with students from both similar and diverse backgrounds in order to provide personal support, reinforce the concept that they are not alone, and develop community.
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of the need to develop a plan for after graduation and an ability to identify the complexities and nuances that may arise along the way.
